Automatic Doors

Automatic Doors

Since the early 1960's when the first automatic doors were being designed and installed by Horton Automatics, the automatic door industry has grown ever stronger. Today automatic doors are used and installed worldwide in locations such as:-

  • Government Buildings
  • Health & Educational Buildings
  • Businesses
  • Correctional Facilities
  • Airports
  • Retail
  • Domestic Properties

It is well documented that a well-designed automatic door installation will improve unaided access for all abled and disabled bodies, lower environmental costs, ease congestion and provide a sleek and welcoming entrance to any building. For the last 20 years the industry has been governed by the British Standard 7036, (BS7036) safety for pedestrians at powered doors. Equipment, safety and activation devices have all been improved year after year. Today, the automatic door industry has brought in a new standard to try and set a uniform level throughout Europe. This is the new BS EN 16005:2012, power operated pedestrian doorsets – safety in use. Requirements and test methods. The new standards look closely at the testing and safety devices on all automatic doors, including impact, drawing in and crushing influences. There are many types of automatic doors, including:-

  • Swing door (single/double)
  • Sliding door (single/bi-parting)
  • Telescopic sliding door (single/bi-parting)
  • Sliding folding door (single/bi-parting)
  • Revolving door
